Following the bombing in Marrakesh last night, a couple of Moroccan friends of mine showed me a music video that has become popular again overnight after first being released in 2006. The chorus of the song is translated as below and is a powerful indicator of the pride Moroccans have in protecting their own land and people. I hope calm is restored to Djema El'Fna very quickly.
Wahaaaaaa matiche bladi
Ardi ou ard jdadi
Ardi ou arde hfadi
Dont touch my land
My land and the land of my grandfathers
My land and the land of my grandchildren
